Melody Gardot - Worrisome Heart

I'm breaking theme a bit here, but hey, it's my blog, and I'll post what I want to, to misquote Lesley Gore. And I suspect Mr. D. might play Melody Gardot in a heartbeat on some given Wednesday, anyway. I read a short blurb in the Globe yesterday on Ms. Gardot's new CD, Worrisome Heart, and it intrigued me enough to check her out. I'm glad I did.

Yes, Gardot's style does resemble Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux, and yes, she does have an amazing backstory that you can read about on her web site (warning: currently an annoying Flash site). But most of that just makes it simple for writers to pigeonhole her and write the easy story. The bottom line is that Worrisome Heart is the best CD I've heard in 2008 - and for that matter, 2007 - and I heartily recommend it. Watch/listen to the video to see/hear what I mean.

Worrisome Heart is currently a steal at Amazon at $6.26 for the CD, or $5.99 as an mp3 album. Worrisome Heart is also available through iTunes and can be accessed through the button below. I should note that Gardot's web pages state that Worrisome Heart is an 11-song CD, and iTunes has a bonus track - Gardot playing with Seth Kallen and The Reaction - not apparently available from Amazon as an mp3 download. Me, I'd still go the Amazon route.
